The Film & Television Institute is the premier professional development centre for independent screen production & events in Western Australia.

A member of Screen Development Australia, FTI provides an alternative pathway to the film and television industry through education, exhibition, equipment and production resources and is supported by its membership, corporate partners, ScreenWest and Screen Australia.

AFI – Australian Film Institute

Founded in 1958, the AFI is Australia’s foremost screen culture organisation. The AFI has promoted Australian film and television for 50 years, and is responsible for producing Australia’s premier film and television awards, the annual AFI Awards.The AFI plays a central role in connecting the Australian film and television industry with audiences. The AFI holds a number of events each year, culminating in the prestigious AFI Awards in December. The AFI Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in Australian film and television production.The AFI is a membership-based not-for-profit organisation. Every person that joins the AFI supports the Australian film and television industry, and gets exclusive access to AFI events, services and discounts throughout the year. AFI members also receive unlimited free access to the annual AFI Awards Screenings, which showcase the films in competition for the AFI Awards. Most importantly, AFI members vote for Australia’s best films, which are then awarded at the AFI Awards in December.

ScreenWest

ScreenWest aims to advance Western Australia as a competitive, creative and culturally diverse centre for screen production. ScreenWest’s support and services are provided through two programs, Funding and Industry Services. The Funding Program provides financial and advisory assistance for projects and activities with priority given to long form television dramas, low-budget feature films, documentaries and animation. The Industry Services Program supports and initiates infrastructure developments, industry promotion and information services including location support. Western Australia offers an employment incentive scheme which provides up to 20 per cent of the budget to producers based on the number of Western Australians employed.

The National Library of Australia

Screen Australia

Screen Australia is a newly established Australian Government agency operating under the Screen Australia Act 2008 (Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts).

Screen Australia commenced operation on 1 July 2008, bringing together the functions of the Film Finance Corporation Australia (FFC) and Film Australia Limited, as well as most of the functions of the Australian Film Commission (AFC).

The National Film and Sound Archive, previously part of the AFC, has been established as a separate statutory authority. See www.nfsa.gov.au

The creation of Screen Australia heralds a new era in Australian film and television, expanding the potential of the industry and the opportunities for the more than 50,000 people it currently employs.

Screen Australia aims to be a strong centralised funding body, encouraging greater private investment in Australian film and television and building on the enormous contribution the industry already makes to the Australian economy.

Our goal is to develop, produce, promote, distribute and provide access to diverse Australian programs, and support the development of the Australian screen production industry, so that Australian screen content is accessible nationally and internationally.
